Frequently Asked Questions
How long will my appointment be?
Appointments usually last 10 to 15 minutes on top of the selected treatment time. This gives us time beforehand to have a chat about what is troubling you and to enable you to slowly come off the table after your treatment.
How do I let you know I’ve arrived?
You can ring the bell next to the main door of the bungalow or you can text me letting me know you are here and I will come outside.
How long can I have a massage for?
Sports or remedial massage treatments are either 30 minutes, 60 minutes or 90 minutes.
Swedish massage is 60 minutes or 90 minutes.
Manual lymphatic drainage massage (MLD) is 30 min or 60 min.
How many massage sessions will I need?
The number of treatment sessions required will vary from person to person, but usually, you should see significant improvement after 3 or 4 treatments.
How often should you get a massage?
This depends upon your lifestyle. Some people have treatments every 2 weeks, others once a month or once every two months. My rule of thumb would be to observe your body, see how it feels after the massage and how long it takes for the effects to wear off. Then it might be time to see me again.
How many clothes do you take off for a massage?
Depending upon the area of the body involved in your treatment, I will ask you to remove items of clothing to allow me to assess the skin for your treatment area. I will use a variety of modesty towelling techniques to maintain your dignity and comfort throughout the session. You will never have to remove clothes that you are uncomfortable removing and I will always respect your wishes.
How much do you tip for massage?
If you feel the massage achieved or exceeded your expectations, then any tip would be greatly appreciated. There is no rule regarding how much you have to tip.
Is it OK to hug your massage therapist?
Yes, I see no problem. A hug or a handshake is equally good. I’m a tactile person, which is why I chose to be a massage therapist. Do whatever you find comfortable, but I like hugs.
Is it rude to not talk during massage?
Absolutely not, you can talk as much or as little as you want. Massage is all about you, your time to switch off and relax. The choice is entirely yours.
Do you offer packages?
Yes. I offer a 12-month Zen Den Worthing membership for £50 and offer various packages.
Silver package
4 x 60 minute massage = £200
Gold package
4 x 90 minute massage = £280
I’m allergic to massage oil, can I still receive a massage treatment?
Yes, I have remedial wax that can be used instead of massage oil. If you have any allergies, please let me know. If you have any questions or concerns that are not answered in my frequently asked questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly.
What is the difference between a massage and a sports massage?
It all depends on what you want to achieve. Swedish massage is relaxing and rejuvenating and is aimed as a full body massage. However if you have a specific problem or area that needs looking at, then a sports massage or remedial massage or a combination of both, may suit your needs better.
Is massage painful?
Massage is not usually painful and I try my best to communicate with you about the amount of pressure I am applying during your treatment and your tolerance levels, to ensure that you don’t feel too much discomfort.
Deep tissue or sometimes deep sports massages are the most painful of all the treatments I provide and I ask that you let me know at the time, if something feels a little too intense.
Will I feel sore the following day after treatment?
If you have received a deep tissue massage or deep forms of sports massage then it is possible you will feel post-treatment soreness the following day. Post-treatment soreness usually feels tender to touch but this will ease and the benefits in range of movement, stiffness, and muscular pains make it worth it.
Is there any aftercare I need to do following my treatment?
Massage can help to move toxins out of the body. Drink plenty of water after your treatment to rehydrate and help flush out these toxins from your body.
Are you a member of any associations?
Yes, I’m a member of the FHT. The FHT stands for Federation of Holistic Therapists. It’s a professional association in the UK that represents complementary, holistic beauty, and sports therapists. You can see my profile on fht.org.uk website.
